🌿 Good to Know in Thailand
Little things that make traveling in Thailand smoother, kinder and more relaxed.
👋 Saying Hello
The wai (hands together, small bow) is the traditional greeting. Use it with older people, in temples and when someone offers you help.
🙏 In Temples
Cover shoulders and knees, remove shoes, keep voices low and don’t point your feet at Buddha statues or people.
😊 Staying Calm
Losing your temper is frowned upon. A soft tone and a smile usually solve problems faster than arguing.
🍜 Street Food
Busy stalls with high turnover are your friend. Go for cooked-to-order dishes and skip anything that looks like it’s been sitting for hours.
🚕 Getting Around
Ask taxis to use the meter or book rides via Grab/Bolt. In Bangkok, BTS and MRT often beat traffic jams by a lot.
💸 Money & ATMs
ATMs add a fixed fee per withdrawal. It’s cheaper to take out a bit more at once and keep small notes for markets and tuk-tuks.
🌧 Weather & Seasons
High season is roughly November–April, but the Andaman side and Gulf islands get rain at different times — always check before booking.
🎁 Small Gestures
A simple “khop khun ka/krap” (thank you) and a smile are often remembered more than any tip — it’s a soft way of saying you appreciate their time.

10–14 days is perfect for first-timers: a few days in Bangkok, a cultural stop in the north, and a beach escape in the south.
